What is JOSTARRMO?

Pronounced, “Joe-Star-Moe”, JOSTARRMO originated as my art instagram handle. The “JO” is part of my middle name, Jolene, and the “MO ” is part of my last name, Moses. “Jo Starr” was a nickname given to me by one of my good art friends because of my starry disposition, and JOSTARRMO reminds me to keep reaching for the stars. It is not associated with the Joestar family from "Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure”, besides in the way it is pronounced.

What materials do you use?

For my watercolor paintings, I prefer working with cotton watercolor paper, and I especially like Bee Paper. I tend to use M. Graham and Daniel Smith watercolors— Daniel Smith’s Primatek Line is the my favorite to use because of the various pigment properties found in their gemstone pigments. My favorite brushes are Silver Black Velvet brushes and Trekkel’s watercolor brushes. I am working on creating a comprehensive guide to all the materials I use and recommend for your reference.

Why do you paint so many mushrooms?

Cause they’re cool as fuck! What more can I say?
